Your privacy is very important to me. It should also be important to you. This site encourages all users to take all possible steps to protect their own privacy as you use the internet.
General Information
- The website address is https://tomloughlin.com. Tom Loughlin is the sole proprietor of this blog. This blog is designed for informational and entertainment purposes only. It is not designed to sell or promote any products or services whatsoever. As such, it does not, to the best of my knowledge, collect any information whatsoever for the promotion of any products or services.
- This site uses WordPress to create its contents. You can find the privacy policy for Automattic, of which WordPress is a subsidiary, here. By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users.
- This site uses Hostmonster.com as its hosting service. You may find their privacy policy here.
- I don’t ask you for personal information unless I truly need it. (I can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
- I don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, or protect my rights.
- I don’t store personal information on any servers unless required for the on-going operation of my site.
Website Visitors
This site is not designed to be interactive. Comments are closed, and the site does not accept registered users. Due to these factors, no personal information is collected by this site for any reason or purpose.
However, like most website operators, the site collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. This web site has no use for this information and will not release it in any form. Visitors are strongly encouraged to use a VPN, ad blocker, or web track blockers such as Ghostery, Privacy Badger, or Duck Duck Go Privacy Essentials to limit the information that your web browser can collect.
The following paragraph is included for the general information of visitors to this site. Please note, again, that this web site does not accept comments or subscribers. References to information collected about commenters, subscribers, or other persons who might normally interact with this site do not apply. They are here for informational purposes only:
This site may also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on my blogs. This site only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left. Certain visitors to this website may choose to interact in ways that require this website to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that the site gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, I ask visitors who comment on my blog to provide a username and email address. Those who wish to receive updates via email, I collect their emails. In each case, the site collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with the site. The site does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Aggregated Statistics
The site may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors. For instance, the site may monitor the most popular pages on the list25.com site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. The site may provide it to others only via lawful requests. However, the site does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
The site discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when the site believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of the site, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of the website and have supplied your email address, the site may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with the site. I expect to keep this type of email to an absolute minimum. If you send a request (for example via a support email or via one of my feedback mechanisms), I reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. The site takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. The site uses cookies to help the site identify and track visitors, their usage of the site website, and their website access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using the site, with the drawback that certain features of the site may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
Ads
Generally speaking, ads should not appear on this site, as this site does not use any SEO features, plugins, Google Analytics or Adsense. However, should ads appear for whatever reason on this site, they may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by the site and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.
Comments
Comments and other content submitted to Akismet anti-spam service are not saved on my servers unless they were marked as false positives, in which case I store them long enough to use them to improve the service to avoid future false positives.
Privacy Policy Changes
Although most changes are likely to be minor, the site may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in the site’s sole discretion. The site encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change. For further information or questions regarding this Privacy Policy please email poorplayer at apoorplayer dot net.
