Dunkirk NY – I’ve been spending the better part of today updating the security aspects of my site. I noticed that my site was always being displayed as “not secure,” and while I am not doing any e-commerce business or gathering any information, I always like to know that people coming here will see the locked icon in the URL bar. I think that makes people more secure about using the site, and I also think it helps keep my own information secure. Getting the SSL certificates was something of a pain and took me a couple of days to figure out. I was just about ready to move to a new hosting site, but I think now I won’t have to, since all my domains are secure.
I’m now a little more than halfway through the NaBloPoMo exercise. Writing every day is a good exercise, but not every day offers anything interesting to write about. And since I am not getting out and about, life is getting a little boring. Today is a bright sunny day, which helps matters, but it remains unseasonably cold. I am dying to take a winter ride on my fat tire ebike, but that probably won’t happen. I will say this – since insulating the attic the house is quite toasty and comfortable. I’m typing this in what has always been called the “cold room,” since it has no heat register in it. Whenever I’ve worked in here in the past I’ve had to run an electric heater. No longer. With the door open to the rest of the upstairs, the heat that flows into the room is quite adequate. This is really going to save on the electric bill this winter for sure.
The knee today is fine. Last night I slept for the first time with no pillow support under the knee. Slept through the night until about 6:30 AM, and got out of bed at 7:15. I tried to get pictures of my Feb. 2019 MRI but discovered that the CD they are on doesn’t really store the pictures. Rather, some special program is used to retrieve them for viewing. So I won’t be showing you those pictures as I had planned earlier this morning.
I watched a TCM movie last night with Laurence Olivier and Vivian Leigh, That Hamilton Woman. Not very good; just a period melodrama about the relationship between Horatio Nelson and Lady Hamilton. I think my wife has tonight’s movie already chosen. I’m tiring of movies a bit. I also discovered that the Criterion Collection website is not compatible with Chromebooks, so I’ll be cancelling that subscription when the trial is over Wednesday. Actually, let me go do that now…and…done. I really don’t want to have to drag out a Windows laptop just to watch this channel. I will have to see if it has a Firestick app or something similar.
That’s all for today. We’ll be clearing out the leftovers for dinner. As Ms. Leigh said in another of her famous roles, “Tomorrow is another day.” -twl
